About CTK
History of CTK
Christ the King Church began assembling for worship services in the fall of 2000, having been birthed from Calvary Evangelical Free Church of Essex Fells, NJ. For a number of years, a core group of families had a vision for planting a new church in MorrisCounty, and after much planning and prayer, God brought this dream to fruition. Since that time, many individual and families have joined CTK from the surrounding area, such that we’re enjoying the happy result of worship services that are a bit crowded!
We are seeking God for a more spacious and permanent meeting place that will accommodate growth and allow us to minister in this community even more effectively in the years to come.
Worship at CTK
Our worship is centered on bringing honor and praise to Christ our King through singing, prayer, and preaching of the Word. We believe that we worship a communicative God, and we seek to learn about Him, and about ourselves in relationship to Him, through the reading and study of the Bible.
Our worship is both upbeat and reverent. We enjoy contemporary and traditional music, sometimes with liturgical elements, and we seek to use a mix of musical instruments and sincere voices to the glory of God. Musical worship precedes and follows the ministry of the Word; we strive to have preaching that is Biblical, practical, and earnest.
The climate of our services is warm and informal, and we hope visitors quickly feel at home. Because we desire to worship God, not glory in men, we don’t seek to entertain, or to elevate personalities. We seek to unite with one mind and heart in fellowship with God and with one another.
