CTK Ministries

In addition to several informal groups and Bible studies, CTK offers specialized ministries to adults and youth. We seek to encourage families and individuals to study the Bible and to meet together to encourage one another and develop deep bonds of friendship. The life and work of the church doesn’t end on Sunday—it begins.

For more information about any of these ministries, please contact the church office at 973.664.0901 or info@ctkefc.org. 2:42 Groups (small group fellowships)

2:42 Groups are a vital aspect of our church that are designed to reflect the priorities of the first believers who “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). We see these groups as critical to the spiritual health of our community. Members are encouraged to consider these groups an important resource for relationship development and support. Engagement in a 2:42 Group is a great way to connect and deepen in fellowship.

Women

Study groups meet regularly for women who desire to deepen their knowledge of the Bible and to build lasting friendships. Occasionally, there are also large group events scheduled. These groups are an excellent opportunity for women of all stages of life to come together.

Men

Men’s groups meet regularly for fellowship, encouragement, and instruction from God’s Word. This is a great way for men to share current events in their lives and spiritual journey and to see how their personal and professional lives can be impacted by biblical truth. From time to time, men also gather for informal group events.

4:12 Group (College and Career Fellowship)

I Timothy 4:12, from which this group derives its name, instructs younger believers to serve as examples to all believers “in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” This group for those who fall within the college and post-college age group meets regularly for Bible investigation and friendship. The active involvement of the individuals in this group is critical to the life of our church. This group also has the potential and desire to reach out in compassion to our community and our world.

Youth

In addition to meeting regularly for study and discussion, the youth groups (Jr. High and High School) regularly get together for events. The youth leaders are passionate about God’s word and about caring for our youth. Questions about life are encouraged as teens study what it means to live for Christ. This is an important stage in life, and understanding God’s truth is the key to navigating and enjoying these years.

Children

Quality nursery care is provided for infants (ages 0-1) from the beginning of each Sunday service. A safe, loving environment is provided by caring adults, making it possible for parents of little ones to focus on the worship service.

Children aged 2-7 are dismissed after worship has begun to assemble in age appropriate groups for a time of singing and instruction with adult teachers in children’s church.

In addition, Sunday School classes for Grades 3-5 and 6-8 meet before the worship service.

Reaching out to our Community

Because we strongly believe in the importance of ministries of mercy to reach our community, CTK supports Market Street Mission and First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, as well as church planting efforts in Newark.

First Choice Women’s Resource Centers (located in Morristown, Montclair, and Jersey City) promote life by offering information, support, and counseling regarding a range of women’s health issues.

Market Street Mission, located in Morristown, ministers to the needy people in our communities by meeting their physical needs with food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities, and their emotional and spiritual needs with counseling and rehabilitation programs.

CTK is increasingly involved with God-honoring churches in the Newark area, contributing time, energy, and financial resources to our brethren seeking to spread the gospel in that nearby city.

Reaching out to the World

CTK supports Mike and Caryn DiGena (along with their children) who serve as missionaries in Lyon, France. Their work in Lyon involves teaching and relationship-building as they spread the gospel from the grassroots.

DiGena contact:   mdigena@efcaim.org

We also support John & Susan Briggs (along with their children) who serve as missionaries in Togo, West Africa.  John is a doctor at a mission hospital.

Briggs contact: jbriggs@abwe.cc

There are several other missionaries serving around the world with whom we regularly keep in contact and for whom we pray.

We also are dedicated to promoting and supporting short term missions trips from within our congregation. We want missions, spreading the message of Christ, to be a priority in the hearts and minds of our people.
